My immediate family immigrated to the United States in the mid-late 1800s from England (Cornwall and Wales), Sweden, and Norway. Occupations of most men included hard rock mining (copper, iron, tin), some were farmers, one worked for the railroad. My wife's immediate family immigrated to the United in the middle-late 1800s from England (Cornwall), Ireland, and Finland. Occupations of most men included hard rock mining (copper, iron, tin), blacksmith, butcher, and farmers. Most women from both families married and took responsibility for household management and raising children. In the United States Michigan's Upper Peninsula became home.
